Autism awareness month begins in April

Irvine, Calif. (March 27, 2014) -– “The newest survey reports on autism prevalence are staggering. In the 1970’s autism affected 1 in every 10,000.” said Lisa Ackerman, TACA Executive Director. “We can no longer assume we are more aware or better at diagnosing. There is just more autism. It is time we offer families help not excuses.”

AAA

In support of April being Autism Awareness Month, TACA has created an autism action month campaign: #AutismActionApril to provide practical tools for companies and individuals who want to help. The campaign aims to educate, empower and inspire by helping with simple solutions to support families living with this disorder.  Help is needed now more than ever before.

What is Autism

Autism is a devastating neurological and biological disorder that typically begins to affect children between the ages of 18 months to five years of age.  Some people with autism are severely affected, cannot speak, require constant one-on-one care, and are never able to live independently. While others who have less severe symptoms, can communicate, and eventually acquire the necessary skills to live on their own.

Booking photo of MC Hammer (Dublin Police via CNN)

MC Hammer is upset with the cops of northern California. On Saturday, he tweeted about his side of an encounter with a “chubby elvis looking dude” earlier this week. The officer arrested him for obstructing an officer; at the time, Hammer was being questioned for driving a car with expired registration. Hammer claims that the first words out of the officer’s mouth were about whether Hammer was on parole or probation. The indignant Hammer apparently got argumentative, and that never ends well. The performer has enjoyed a slight revival of late, including an electrifying “Gangnam Style”/”Too Legit to Quit” mashup at the American Music Awards with Psy. Papa San One BloodWe waited and waited, and the collaboration of the year is here, its Papa San’s new Album, One Blood

Gospel Music’s ultimate fusion of artists and genre has been accomplished  as Papa San joins together with the likes of Lecrae, Fred Hammond, Stitchie and Israel Houghton.  Each artist have their own rhythm in their bones, then it is brought to a climax with the production of One Blood.  Here comes a reggae, dance hall, hiphop, traditional gospel fusions that will surely cause a rumping of the non-foot-stompers.

The Official launch of One Blood will be on January 21, 2014.  We can look forward to hearing  tracks and other artists such as: Da’ T.R.U.T.H., Fred Hammond, Lecrae, Stitchie, Tasan, Israel Houghton, Tiffany Hall, Tyrone Andrew, DJ Nicholas, Ryan Mark, Sherwin Gardner, Jael Wiafe

Read your Bible, and Pray every day, that’s an old time song that tells us kids how to live righteously.
Many times when the preacher says “turn to your neighbour” for theatrical effect, we do, and not examine.
Take a look at this PC4M video and hear some truths that many are fearful to speak because of what others may say. Be rebellious for Christ. Say nothing and tell the preacher PREACH! Stop the rampant spurting of tongues in public where the tongue speaker is also the interpreter? That is not right. When did we go so far away from Heaven that is is so close by.

Alas! and did my Savior bleed,
and did my Sovereign die?

. . . are words we know from our hymnals.  Words that were testimonial and spoke the word of God.  There was a great filling of hymns at the Barbados Gospelfest’s Hymn Speak event.  On occasion, the aisle was occupied with a worshipper lifting up the name of the lord. No precision or energy was spared by director, Antigua born Mikie Rogers. His knowledge of the word, expression of the gospel, the almost aromatic feel of each hymn was worth every moment.

The opportunity to be thrown back to the classical and romantic eras with popular hymns was a treat. Do you remember “Standing on the Promises”, “Sing Them to Me Over Again”, “How Firm a Foundation”, “Break Thou The Bread of Life”? these were the lyrical and musical masterpieces presented at Hymn Speak, “Beautiful Words, Wonderful Words”

Hymns were not the only sumptuous delight of the evening, there was a brass section that blew the notes into the souls of the audience, only causing an even more raptured effect in the event.

Hymn Speak was a classical brought to life in the 21st century

Raga Soca! Dance Hall! Dub Shots! Calypso! R&B! Slow Jams! Were all a delight on Saturday, April 27, 2013 for the debut album launch “ I Need You” from Neesha Woods, the Gospel Bajan Artist.  Artists from around the island came in support of the gospel artist who brought her ministry to the fore front with the release of her first album.  There was dancing room for all who knew that praise burned the nostrils of Jehovah as the sweet smelling noise rose to the heavens.

Children, seniors and youth  were on their feet raising their hands to the Lord. Each artist gave of their gift to encourage the praise to the Lord.  Shane Forrester, Allison Norville, Paula Hinds, 13th Apostle,  Nayan Warrington, Michael “Bishop” Holford, and many others introduced an atmosphere of praise, worship and warfare beyond any other.

Neesha Woods came to the stage with a heart bursting from passion to tell the good news with records such as Nah Go Bow, Adrenaline, and many others. The standing room was like a nightmare at the front of the sanctuary as there was none. There was only dancing room to put Satan under our feet and tell him who we were dancing for.

Congratulations Neesha.

michael winans jrA judge sentenced a member of gospel music’s Winans family to nearly 14 years in prison Wednesday for an $8 million financial scam that was promoted in church pulpits, reports the Associated Press.

Two of Michael Winans Jr.’s victims spoke in federal court, telling a judge that the scheme to sell Saudi Arabian oil bonds robbed some people of their life savings, caused divorces and fractured many families.

“I want to apologize to everyone. … These were decisions that were negligent and irresponsible,” said Winans, of Jessup, Md.

He said he had no “malicious intent” but acknowledged that he continued to collect money even after he learned that the bonds were bogus.

Winans attracted more than 1,000 investors in 2007 and 2008, although he didn’t know them all because many were recruited by others through word of mouth. He promised 100 percent returns in two months, then, used the money for personal expenses or to pay off earlier investors. About 600 people are still owed $4.7 million.

Winans, 30, is a third-generation member of one of gospel music’s first families. He’s the grandson of Delores “Mom” Winans and David “Pop” Winans Sr., and the son of Michael Winans Sr., a member of The Winans quartet of brothers.

Winans has performed with his cousins as “Winans Phase II.” He released his own album in 2011, “My Own Genre.”

Winans relied on unwitting friends to round up investors, a trait of a classic Ponzi scheme. When the bonds turned out to bogus, investors angrily turned on the people who recruited them.

“There are lots of marriages that have been destroyed. I know family members who aren’t speaking to each other,” Tara Hurt told the judge.

U.S. District Judge Sean Cox read from some of the 50 letters written by victims. He said a young woman joined the Army because her family had lost money that was intended for her college education. He noted that Winans made his pitch from church pulpits.

“Fraud on good, decent church-going people — that was very, very troubling to me,” Cox said.

November 25th at Church of the Nazarene, Collymore Rock was a Fantastic explosion of letting God know that we want Him to control our lives.

Sonja, the Master of Ceremonies was a good bundle of craziness that we all enjoyed. She had every quip for her indoor land cruise, including the port of call near a volcano, and the wooziness of a rocky Ship. Both invited guests, as well as local acts did a fantastic deed in proclaiming War fare, with Mr. War-In-Ton Nayan Warrington.

This was a cruise where we will all remember the lesson of Letting God take us to His banquet table, and relish us with His goodness, as we let him in to captain our ship.

We all know how sometimes we desire to drop anchor at pleasurable ports, but when we do, the Lord has to send out a life saver and a raft to collect us.  To view photos of the event and other information, go to our website, www.thec2project.com
