Autism awareness month begins in April

Irvine, Calif. (March 27, 2014) -– “The newest survey reports on autism prevalence are staggering. In the 1970’s autism affected 1 in every 10,000.” said Lisa Ackerman, TACA Executive Director. “We can no longer assume we are more aware or better at diagnosing. There is just more autism. It is time we offer families help not excuses.”

AAA

In support of April being Autism Awareness Month, TACA has created an autism action month campaign: #AutismActionApril to provide practical tools for companies and individuals who want to help. The campaign aims to educate, empower and inspire by helping with simple solutions to support families living with this disorder.  Help is needed now more than ever before.

“My Heart – The Story of Broken and Healed” is Careen Carlton’s first collection of poems, poems drawn not only from the heart of the author but of the others’ as well. Rummaging through camouflaged human emotion, the words leave the reader with a memory that is familiar. Careen invites us to see, examine and experience the love and desperation, ecstasy and emptiness, fulfillment and honesty in each word. Each piece has a depth that makes understanding our own emotion a little clearer. In her own style, She manages to capture what is often so difficult to express, almost as if she is there with us. “My Heart – The Story of Broken and Healed” is Personal, only an emotional snow-cone can pen.

International music star David Guetta, together with the United Nations and international aid organizations tonight launched a music video for the new track ‘One Voice’, in support of “The World Needs More___” campaign to raise funds for humanitarian emergencies. The track and video were penned and performed for the campaign by music artist Mikky Ekko.

The music video was projected onto the exterior of the iconic United Nations Headquarters building in New York during a special launch event attended by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Under-Secretary-General Valerie Amos, David Guetta and many of the campaign’s key partners and supporters.

“The World Needs More___” campaign enables leading brands to sponsor a word they believe the world could use more of. Each time these words are shared on Twitter or through the campaign website www.theworldneedsmore.org, US$1 is unlocked to support aid efforts in the world’s most underfunded crises, literally turning words into action. The campaign was launched on World Humanitarian Day, 19 August, and the video is being launched now to raise funds that can go directly to ease the devastation and loss caused by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

David Guetta produced the video especially for the United Nations. “Music is a powerful way to connect and to bring people together,” said Mr. Guetta. “Together we can use our voices to make a real difference for people in need around the world. I am so honoured to be part of this campaign. If we can make a change just by saying what the world needs now and raise money to help the UN — wow. That’s incredible. I want the video to show just what the UN does to help people and use my community to share this — and them with their friends. I collaborate in my music; I want us all to collaborate in this.”

“We know that humanitarian needs are growing and that if we are to meet those rising needs we must do things differently,” said Valerie Amos, UN Humanitarian Chief. “We need more partners and supporters. This campaign is a chance to do just that and we are grateful to David Guetta for lending his voice and talent to this cause.”

The music video was directed by Michael Jurkovac together with advertising agency Leo Burnett New York. It was broadcast in real time through Livestream via Mr. Guetta’s Facebook page. Following the music video’s debut, the building was used as the backdrop for an interactive Twitter wall, becoming the canvas for tweets from around the globe. David Guetta has 47 million Facebook followers and 16 million on Twitter, making him one of the most followed people in the world.

“The World Needs More ____” campaign has been extended until 31 December 2013.

ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN

“The World Needs More__” campaign is a collaborative effort between the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the UN Foundation, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA), and advertising agency Leo Burnett New York.

Booking photo of MC Hammer (Dublin Police via CNN)

MC Hammer is upset with the cops of northern California. On Saturday, he tweeted about his side of an encounter with a “chubby elvis looking dude” earlier this week. The officer arrested him for obstructing an officer; at the time, Hammer was being questioned for driving a car with expired registration. Hammer claims that the first words out of the officer’s mouth were about whether Hammer was on parole or probation. The indignant Hammer apparently got argumentative, and that never ends well. The performer has enjoyed a slight revival of late, including an electrifying “Gangnam Style”/”Too Legit to Quit” mashup at the American Music Awards with Psy. Read your Bible, and Pray every day, that’s an old time song that tells us kids how to live righteously.
Many times when the preacher says “turn to your neighbour” for theatrical effect, we do, and not examine.
Take a look at this PC4M video and hear some truths that many are fearful to speak because of what others may say. Be rebellious for Christ. Say nothing and tell the preacher PREACH! Stop the rampant spurting of tongues in public where the tongue speaker is also the interpreter? That is not right. When did we go so far away from Heaven that is is so close by.
Share the vibes
Take a look at the video

The fact of this is spoken by a factivist. Bono uses facts to tell us about the changes and the things that are still to be changed in the world to make it a better place.

Though I am not in a state to palate his sexual undertones and other religions notes, his points of feasible alleviation of the horror that exists in this world is precision. It must however be mixed with more than just monetary capabilities, and be infused with human morality and our humanness.  We must more than mention the connotation of God, and include Him in the action.

An incorporation of the power of prayer will amaze many who just see this end time as a period in history, but recognize the prophesy.  The inclusion of Christ who was murdered to shed His blood for causes just like this one will shake the global boots of the demon leader called Satan.  This inclusion should not be eminently visible, just actively prominent.

Take a look and listen to Bono. We can help.  Join in and share Christ in this movement.

Released on On June 17, 2013 in WASHINGTON, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano has re-designated Syria for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and extended the existing TPS designation for the country from Oct. 1, 2013, through March 31, 2015. This allows eligible nationals of Syria to register or re-register for TPS in accordance with a notice published today in the Federal Register U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) encourages eligible individuals to register or re-register as soon as possible.

Who’s Eligible Current TPS Status When to File
Syrian nationals (and individuals without nationality who last habitually resided in Syria) Have TPS Must re-register during a 60-day re-registration period that runs from June 17, 2013 through Aug. 16, 2013.
Have a Pending TPS Application with USCIS You do not need to file a re-registration application during this extension. USCIS will continue to process your pending application.
Do Not Have TPS May apply for TPS during a 180-day registration period that runs from June 17, 2013 through Dec. 16, 2013.

During the past year, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of State (DOS) reviewed the conditions in Syria. Based upon this review, Secretary Napolitano has determined that a re-designation and 18-month extension of TPS for Syria is warranted. The extension of the current Syria TPS designation and re-designation is due to the continued disruption of living conditions in the country that are a result of the extraordinary and temporary conditions that led to the initial TPS designation of Syria in 2012. The extension is based on ongoing armed conflict in that region and the continued deterioration of country conditions.

A Syrian national, or an individual having no nationality who last habitually resided in Syria, may be eligible for TPS under the re-designation if he or she has continuously resided in the United States since June 17, 2013 and has been continuously physically present in the United States since Oct. 1, 2013. In addition to the continuous residence date requirement, applicants must meet all other TPS eligibility and filing requirements.

DHS anticipates that there are approximately 2,600 individuals who will be eligible to re-register for TPS under the existing designation of Syria and estimates that approximately 9,000 additional individuals might be eligible to apply for TPS under the re-designation.

Sincerely,

Careen Carlton
